FAME website

Dear Parents and Teachers of Special Needs Children,

The Foundation of Arts is always considering better ways to provide access to the arts for as many people as possible.  With that in mind, we are renewing a program we’ve loved in the past called FAME (Fine Arts and ME). This class is open to all school age, special needs children. With FAME, we hope to provide the unique atmosphere required to meet your child’s unique needs. With ongoing research, expert advice, and frequent consultation with you, we hope to customize your student’s arts education to his or her unique needs and abilities.

FAME is comprised of two separate parts:

1. STUDENTS COME TO THE FOA WEEKLY FOR ONSITE CLASSES
In the Arts Center on Main Street in downtown Jonesboro, Wednesdays from 4 pm to 5:30, we are excited to explore music, creative movement, art, and vocal performance over the 12 weeks of our Spring semester.  Your student will grow and change and become more confident as he/she discovers all of the arts activities he can accomplish!  We want every student who can attend classes in the Arts Center to participate, so this class is offered at a reduced cost- or even free – to meet the family’s needs.

2. WE COME TO THE STUDENT IN THEIR CLASSROOM
Classroom visits are focused on arts enrichment and appreciation, hopefully sparking an interest in your students to look further into the arts.  There is no charge for this classroom visit. In your special education classroom, students will be exposed to the following aspects of the arts:

  • music (playing an instrument, vocal music, interpretation)
  • creative movement
  • art appreciation
  • storytelling

The United Way of Jonesboro is assisting the Foundation of Arts with this program and we believe that your child will grow in communication awareness, knowledge and skill in the arts, and confidence in themselves through taking part in FAME.  Please call me at 870-935-2726, email kristi@foajonesboro.org, or come by to talk more about how include your child as a student in the FAME program.

Sincerely,
Kristi Pulliam, Executive Artistic Director                                                                                 The Foundation of Arts
